The Labour Party has accepted £15million from striking unions since Keir Starmer became leader. The unions who are leading strikes in the NHS, the ambulance service, royal mail, railways and the bus services this Christmas have poured cash into Labour since he took over
Trade unions have donated £15.28milion to the party, constituency groups and to its MPs since 2020.
Union bosses, who claim to represent “only the work interests of their members”, have pledged to get this Tory Government out. Despite all the tactics and the disruptions being caused to the lives of millions of people this Christmas, Kier Starmer has refused to condemn the strikes despite the mayhem and misery it is causing. The strikes are stopping families getting together this Christmas because they simply can’t get home because of the rail strikes, people are not receiving gifts because royal mail are on strike and people are unable to obtain important medical appointments, and the list goes on.
Below are just a few of the donations that were given to Labour MPs …
Unison, which represents striking university and ambulance staff, has donated £3.5million.
The GMB union, which will send 10,000 ambulance workers has handed Labour £3.2million.
The Communications Workers Union, which led tens of thousands of post office workers to strike gave more than £1.2million to Labour.
Even some Labour MPs have received money from the RMT union, which is crippling our rail network, with 5 Labour MPs who have spoken out in support of the rail strikes have received a total of £20,000 in donations from the left-wing RMT union.
Rebecca Long Bailey, MP for Salford and Eccles, received £3,000 from the RMT in 2020, and former shadow chancellor John McDonnell received more than £8,000 in the same year.
MP for Hackney North and Stoke Newington Diane Abbott received a donation worth £2,000.
Ian Lavery, MP for Wansbeck, received £5,000 also in 2020.
