Court files and National Crime Agency data confirm that some foreign fugitives—including individuals wanted for serious crimes like rape and murder—have entered the UK illegally via small boats, prompting extradition efforts.
Recent reporting highlights a troubling pattern: hundreds of foreign nationals with serious criminal records have entered Britain unlawfully, often by crossing the English Channel in small boats. According to court documents and National Crime
Agency (NCA) data:
• Many of these individuals are wanted across Europe for crimes including rape, murder, gang violence, and child exploitation.
• Some fugitives had already been denied asylum in countries like Germany, France, and Austria before arriving in the UK. Germany alone has reportedly submitted over
5,000 extradition requests to the UK in the past two years.
• Several high-profile cases have come to light:• A Sudanese national, Deng Majek, murdered a hotel worker in the UK after entering illegally and being housed in taxpayer-funded accommodation.
• Afghan national Milad Rahimi, wanted in Germany for murder, was arrested in Kent and extradited.
• Convicted paedophile Izalden Alshaik Suleman was found staying in an asylum hotel in Manchester.
The NCA has made arrests in collaboration with European authorities. For example, two men—Albanian Lulzim Brahaj and Iraqi Rebin Sharif—were arrested in London and face extradition to France for organizing small boat crossings and laundering money tied to smuggling operations.
Key concerns raised include:
• The use of asylum claims and legal aid by fugitives to delay or avoid deportation.
• The strain on UK border enforcement and extradition systems, with only a fraction of requests resulting in arrests.
• The risk to public safety, as some individuals have committed further crimes after arriving in the UK.
