Met Police launches massive new grooming gangs inquiry with 9,000 cases coming to light after criticism of Sadiq Khan and UK’s biggest force

Timeline of Events Leading to the Inquiry
2010-2025: Over the past 15 years, the Metropolitan Police investigated approximately 9,000 cases related to child sexual exploitation, many of which involved multiple offenders.

2022: The Met began introducing reforms, such as specialist training for 11,000 officers and the expansion of child exploitation teams, in response to ongoing criticism about their handling of abuse cases. Early 2025: Reports highlighted severe failures, including cases where girls as young as 13 were raped and coerced into sexual acts, oftenwith the use of drugs and alcohol.

2025: Mayor Sadiq Khan and the Metropolitan Police initially denied the existence of grooming gangs in London, with Khan stating there were "no
indications" of group-based child sexual exploitation. Mid-2025: Mounting evidence and criticism from survivors, experts, the media, and political figures—most notably Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp—challenged the official stance and accused Khan of facilitating a cover- up.

October 2025: The Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley, announced a major review of group-based child sexual exploitation cases, acknowledging a “very significant number” of multi-offender cases requiring re-examination. Initial assessments are to be completed by April 2026.
Current: Mayor Sadiq Khan now supports the inquiry, stating that “no stone must be left unturned” and highlighting ongoing investment in safeguarding and violence reduction initiatives.
Criticisms Against Sadiq Khan
Sadiq Khan previously claimed there were no indications of grooming gangs operating in London, a position now widely criticised as being out of touch with reality. Critics, including Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp, have accused Khan of facilitating a cover-up and failing to properly acknowledge and address the problem. Survivors and independent experts have described child sexual abuse as “rife” across the capital, further undermining the credibility of denials from City Hall.
Khan has since shifted his position, now publicly supporting the inquiry and emphasising the need for accountability and comprehensive reform.

The Metropolitan Police’s decision to review 9,000 child sexual exploitation cases
marks a dramatic policy reversal and a commitment to greater accountability. The
inquiry responds to longstanding criticism, highlights the challenges of institutional
denial, and sets the stage for long-term reforms to protect vulnerable children in
London.

This is yet another in the endless stream of Muslim grooming gangs to come to light in the last 25 years. Rochdale, Oldham, Burnley, Newcastle, Oxford, Keithley and Rotherham just to name a few, but the list is endless.

It was the BNP who first brought this vile crime to light and way back then they screamed racists at us, but we never gave up and never will stop exposing these animals.

Help us to continue the fight.
