Email Accounts

Most party officials are issued with an @bnp.org.uk email address.  This page explains how to configure and use them.

Technical Details

For reference, here are the settings to use:

  • server name — mail.bnp.org.uk
  • server type — IMAP for incoming mail, SMTP for outgoing mail
  • server port — (use the default setting)

  • SSL — enabled, both for IMAP (incoming mail) and for SMTP (outgoing mail)
  • username — youraccount+bnp.org.uk  (the same as your email address, but with a plus [+] symbol instead of the at sign [@])
  • password — (as provided to you)

If you’d like to change your password, please log in to the webmail facility (see below for further details about this).

Email Software

For PCs and laptops

  • Outlook Express is pre-installed on many PCs.

For other devices

A range of hand-held devices are capable of sending or receiving email.  Please refer to the Technical Details section above when configuring an email account.

Webmail Facility

Webmail allows access to email accounts from a web browser.  This is provided as an alternative to installing or configuring email software. It’s most useful for quick access to email when away from home or out of the office.  Log in with your email account’s username and password:

  • username — youraccount+bnp.org.uk  (the same as your email address, but with a plus [+] symbol instead of the at sign [@])
  • password — (as provided to you)

Webmail has only a limited set of features.  For general use it is much better to install and configure email software, as described in the section above.
