Local councillors push Party postal vote collection campaign

Mon, 28/11/2011 - 13:36

By Cllr Angus Matthys – At the latest joint Allerdale and Copeland meeting in Cumbria this week, four of our local councillors set about collecting postal vote application forms. There was fierce but friendly competition between the Allerdale secretary and the Copeland organiser – super activists and cllrs Dawn Charlton and Malcolm Southward – to see who could collect the most applications. With this month’s meeting on home turf for the Allerdale secretary, there was a definite advantage, as most of the members of the public present were voters from the Allerdale borough.

Another attack on the British National Party backfires

Sun, 20/11/2011 - 14:58

Should a hard-working County and Borough Councillor tell her electorate about the good work she is doing in her community? Should she try to encourage other elected officials in her party to work in their neighbourhoods and learn from her example? Of course she should! The lady we are referring to is none other than our very own Sharon Wilkinson, Lancashire County Councillor, re-elected Burnley Borough Councillor and leader of the British National Party group on Burnley Borough Council.

That is the opinion of 3,000 local residents who have signed a petition protesting against the Council giving its stamp of approval to the Noor A Madina mosque in Waterloo Road that has been said to have been operating illegally.
