Equality Bill Aims to “End Civic Society” Says Christian Council of Britain Moderator
The Tory and Labour party-supported Equality Act — which has suffered a major reverse in the House of Lords — is a bill aimed at ending civic society, Reverend Robert West, moderator of the Christian Council of Britain, has warned.
“The rolling juggernaut of the New Labour government, in its slow motion takeover of civil society, has just received a significant hammer-blow in the House of Lords, for which we heartily give God thanks,” Rev West said.
“Its Iniquity Bill against Christianity and the churches, deceitfully trumpeted as an Equality Bill, suffered a crucial amendment by Lady O’Cathain, an evangelical, by 216 votes to 178.
“This Iniquity Bill, like the current attack on the BNP’s membership criteria rules, was a thinly disguised attempt to disrupt and take over the churches by controlling their terms of membership and exclusion. Churches would have been compelled, by law, to accept into holy communion and office those who will not inherit the kingdom of heaven (1 Corinthians 6: 11–12),” Rev West said.
“The New Labour Government was particularly concerned to parachute homosexuals into or near the pulpit. What is especially worrying, from a secular point of view, is that such a law, if passed, would have adjusted the churches to the mores of the New Labour machine and would have thus prevented, or inhibited, the churches critiquing the state, a role they have performed since the coming of Christianity to Europe.
“The lesson is that the Labour government, even in its death stages, wants to control everything. The promotion of homosexuality is a major plank of the New Labour machine, the media, and the homo-Conservatives and is designed to destroy Christianity in this country,” Rev West said.
“It is designed to break, not mend, broken Britain further — David Cameron take note — and to pave the way for the imposition of the Islamic sharia as the answer to the moral vacuum and chaos that would ensue,” he continued.
“The Muslims hope to take over by 2030, or later, and the moral chaos caused by this Bill’s corruption of the churches, would have helped that awful prospect. There is a lot at stake in what has happened and this is why the Labour peers were so anxious that the Bill not be amended.
“But Christians woke up to the danger in time and organised themselves to defeat the Bill; to the extent, that is, that it impinged upon them merely as Christians and as churches.
“However, we must realise that the Iniquity Bill, if passed, will still effect Christians, as citizens, as it extends the power of the state in other areas over everyone’s freedom of association and employment,” Rev West said.
“In particular, it embodies adverse racial discrimination against people, in certain circumstances, if they happen to have a white skin. It should now be clear that both the New Labour state and the leadership of the Conservative Party are very unhappy about the right of all citizens to organise themselves, in any way, to defeat their immoral combination which is designed to put us all into an anti-Christian and anti-freedom straitjacket.
“The Iniquity Bill is essentially a Nazi or Soviet law to end civic society: that area where we are free from the Government and the state and can organise ourselves to oppose the Government and the state. Their ultimate destination is an unfree society,” he continued.
“Christians and the churches have got to wake up to stop, or reverse, this rolling and malignant juggernaut before it is too late. I believe that one of the best ways to do that is to get involved with the British National Party as well as other noble bodies such as the Christian Council of Britain.”
