South Somerset and Exeter Hold Christmas Functions

Nearly 40 South Somerset British National Party members got together earlier this week for their annual Christmas function in a superb venue in Taunton, reports our South West correspondent.
On the menu, apart from the traditional turkey, was roast pork and beef followed by a Christmas pudding desert.
The branch chairman delivered a short speech on the subject of the Christian meaning of Christmas, something all too often forgotten in this age of unbridled commercialism.
Toasts were made to “Queen and Country” and, of course, to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
On a more political note 2009 has been a good year for the South Somerset branch. It was a year in which it stood a record number of candidates in the local elections, polled its highest ever voting percentages and saw an increase in its paid-up membership of around 70 percent.
Later that week it was the turn of Exeter BNP to hold their Christmas social to celebrate all the great achievements of the past 12 months.
Exeter organiser Mike Turner made a short speech in which he thanked all the members and supporters who, through all their hard work and dedication, contributed to Exeter’s continued success.
During the event a raffle was taken and two pictures were auctioned off in aid of party funds.
The function was also attended by key activists and officials from Cornwall branch and various Devon groups.
All the groups and branches in the South West took part in Christmas social events this month, and now take a few days well earned rest and recuperation in preparation for the fight to come.
