Civil Liberty – Christmas Appeal: Please give generously

December 3, 2009 - By BNP News

Great-Repression-Human-Brain-in-CageCivil Liberty correspondent–Imagine a country where employees could be sacked solely on account of their political affiliations or denied work in certain public jobs.

Picture a country where careers could be ruined and people left financially destitute on account of expressing views to which the ruling elite objected. We are not talking about the former Soviet Union or Turkey today.

You don’t have to travel back in time or overseas. It shouldn’t be too hard to form this in your mind as this New McCarthyism is taking place here and now.

The Solidarity Trade Union has approached Civil Liberty with an urgent request for assistance.

In addition to fighting cases on holiday and maternity pay, conditions at work, etc., the STU has been thrust into the frontline in the war for civil liberties in the UK.

Solidarity is fighting cases for teachers facing professional hearings for expressing criticism of Islam. It is representing Police workers sacked for belonging to a legal political party.

Every individual involved now faces all the resources and might of a corrupt state. It is truly a David versus Goliath struggle. Civil Liberty wants to do all it can to help them help those being persecuted.

The cases are about to reach the next level. The validity of their charges will be tested in hearings which will take place in January 2010. These are vital test cases which may set important precedents determining the fate not just of those involved but others who may follow.

If Solidarity can stall or de-rail the persecution bandwagon a historic victory will be won.

Your help needed

These individuals need your help if they are to have the best defence possible. Can you help by making a contribution? Solidarity needs to invest in legal research and advice.

That does not come cheap and, as the old saying goes the victims don’t want to lose their cases for a ’halfpence worth of tar.’

Please give generously to Civil Liberty just as soon as you can so that we can help. Don’t let these victims of persecution and their families worry during the Christmas holidays about whether they will get the backing they need. Don’t let Solidarity lose for lack of resources.

Solidarity has a professional, motivated team; they are ready to take the battle for our traditional rights and freedoms to the enemy. Pass them the ammunition they need. Please give now!

All cheques and postal orders made out to ‘Civil Liberty’ should be sent to: Civil Liberty, P.O. Box 1132, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE99 4YT, Great Britain.

Donations online can be made here.

Thank you for your help!
