“Climate Change” Summit Ends Inconclusively after Third World Begging Bowls Not Filled High Enough
The Copenhagen “climate change” summit which was supposed to set legally binding rules on carbon emissions for the world ended inconclusively after many Third World nations refused to sign up to legally binding targets despite being offered billions of Western taxpayers’ money.
British National Party leader Nick Griffin, MEP, who attended the conference as part of the official EU delegation, has provided a brief video report from the conference which can be viewed on BNPtv by clicking here.
The Third World was offered an “aid” package of $100 billion (£62 billion) a year in aid from 2020. This was, however, condemned as “inadequate” by some Third World delegates who demanded even more.
Lumumba Stanislaus Di-Aping, the Sudanese negotiator, said the draft text asked “Africa to sign a suicide pact.”
The aid package, which is supposedly designed to help the Third World “combat emissions” and “reduce the effects of climate change”, was planned to start straightaway with a $30 billion jump-start.
Instead, the acrimonious debate between the assembled weather alarmists and guilt-ridden liberal handwringers produced a motion simply “noting” a loose deal aimed at limiting temperature rises to less than 20C.
It contains no reference to how this aim is to be achieved, nor any timetable.
It seems that a new United Nations-backed conference could be held in Mexico in the first half of 2010 in order to try and sort out this mess.
The Third World has now been left to monitor its own efforts on climate change and report to the UN every two years. Given that many of these nations are patently unable to even rule themselves with any degree of cohesion, that is bound to end in chaos at worst or falsified reports at best.
Meanwhile, there is little doubt that the climate change alarmists will, despite all the questions (such as whether global warming is indeed occurring and, if it is, whether it is the result of CO2 emissions), continue to use hysteria to justify the final deindustrialisation of the West while paying billions of dollars of “aid” to the Third World.
