Yet another BNP Success in Catterick Garrison
Andrew Brons MEP held an open air surgery on Saturday 31st October 2009 as part of the day of action in Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire, reports our North East correspondent.
Mr Brons was joined by 35 activists from Yorkshire and the North East to leaflet the garrison area with over 5,000 of the No More Loss of British Blood leaflets and Voice of Freedom newspapers. The leaflet teams were led by Yorkshire Regional Organiser and Councillor Chris Beverley.
“It was another great turnout, which made it possible to leaflet the entire garrison in a few hours,” said Cllr Beverley. “I would like to thank those activists for making the time to help Andrew Brons today.”
There was plenty of interest at the stall from off duty serving soldiers, army wives and teenage children of serving soldiers deployed in Afghanistan. All agreed with the British National Party’s policy of withdrawing the troops from Afghanistan.
“Today has given us the opportunity to reaffirm the BNP’s policies on defence to all those connected to our armed forces here in Catterick,” Mr Brons said.
“Even though we oppose the war in Afghanistan and our brave servicemen and women being used and abused by our government and their Tory allies to further American foreign policy, we, as a party, will always support our troops,” he added.
The most poignant quote of the day came from an on duty soldier passing the stall, manned at the time by Adam Walker and Pete Molloy. The soldier said that he and his colleagues all regarded the BNP as “our only hope.”
A large number of serving soldiers put their names down to become members of the party as soon as the current membership freeze is lifted.
