Last Saturday saw the British National Party in St Helens hold the first of its new campaign of table top outreach efforts, reports organiser Leila Bentham.

“We set up the stall in St Helens town centre,” said Ms Bentham. “The conditions were ideal. We had great weather and plenty of shoppers.

“We found that more people than ever before took leaflets and came over to the stall to express their interest and support. Clearly Nick Griffin’s appearance on Question Time has reaped rewards.”

The activists gave out almost all of their stock of leaflets and Voice of Freedom newspapers. Seventy-six people signed a petition complaining about Mr Griffin’s unfair treatment on Question Time.

“A large number of people wanted to join on the spot and were enraged to hear that we have a membership freeze because of persecution by the Government,” Ms Bentham said.
