Somerset BNP Honours Remembrance Day in Two Ceremonies
Officials from the British National Party in Somerset took part in two Remembrance Sunday services to pay their respects to those brave heroes who sacrificed their lives in the defence of our people and nation, reports organiser Andy Bamford.
“The first service was held in the city of Wells, where I was joined by two officials from North Somerset,” Mr Bamford said.
“We laid a wreath on behalf of Somerset BNP at the 11am service and paused for a few moments with heads bowed,” he continued. “It was an emotional occasion, as we, like all those others in attendance from many organisations, did our duty on the day of remembrance.”
The next service was the 2.45pm ceremony in the large village of Street. There Mr Bamford was joined by ex Royal Marine and member from Shepton Mallet, John Mcloughlin, and party council election candidate for Street, Mr Dick Beasley.
“We took part in the military and civil parade to the war memorial where we once again honoured this nation’s heroes in a moment of silence,” Mr Bamford said.
“Mr McLoughlin stepped forward to lay a wreath on behalf of Somerset BNP. Another of our members did the local community proud by attending three different services during the day as a standard bearer,” Mr Bamford said.
The day’s activity was ended by meeting up with local veterans and members of the community for a drink and to reflect on our experiences during the day.
“We truly thank and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defence and protection of the British people and nation against our foes throughout our history,” Mr Bamford said.
Note: Out of all those different representatives and organisations who paid their respects during the day, Mr Bamford said the Tory, Lib-Dem and Labour parties were conspicuous by their absence.
