North Durham Constituency Group Launched
The inaugural meeting of the North Durham British National Party Constituency Group took place in Sacriston on Tuesday 3rd November 2009, attended by an enthusiastic 30 people.
The new group’s organiser, Roland Craggs, said, “I am very proud to be leading this new group in County Durham, which proves there is continued growth in support for the BNP in the county. With this growth in our support base, we will be fielding a candidate in the next general election.”
The BNP’s prospective parliamentary candidate for the North Durham Constituency is British army veteran, Pete Molloy. Mr Molloy is also the new group’s fund holder.
“I am taking the general election very seriously and am prepared to put in the hard work in the constituency to give you a real voice in Westminster by putting your interests and concerns first,” Mr Molloy told the meeting.
The guest speaker was Bishop Auckland Constituency Group’s Secretary, Mark Walker, who informed the audience about the importance of getting involved and becoming an activist.
“Last year in Shildon, I lost by just one vote. This is why it is important to have plenty of good activists so that can we be elected to office for the good of our people. Without the commitment of activists, it makes our work very much harder.”
The group raised £149 on the evening to help kick-start their general election campaign.
