A Special Message from BNP Scotland on the Glasgow North East By-Election

November 9, 2009 - By BNP News

bnp-glasgow-by-electionBy Gary Raikes — As we enter the final three days of campaigning, the newspapers are suggesting that the British National Party could come third in Thursday’s by-election in Glasgow North East.

We certainly know that our campaign has gone extremely well and that we have found a relatively high degree of support for us in the constituency. This could suggest a good result for us on Thursday night.

However, we are also aware that there are some media commentators who would like to hype us up in the hope that we will not reach that third position. They can then say that we “failed” to achieve our goal.

So at this exciting time for the party, we urge everyone to remember that we in the BNP always set realistic goals.

We realise the size of the mountain we have to climb to achieve third place. It’s do-able, but we must tread carefully and keep our feet firmly on the ground. We mustn’t let the media hype blind us to the incredibly hard climb that mountain represents.

Therefore, while we are always aiming for as high as possible, we are also setting other achievable objectives. We have seven goals in this by-election: In order of attainability, they are:

1 – To beat all the extreme left-wing parties.

2 – To come sixth.

3 – To beat one or all of the following: the Greens, Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats, who on past outings have come above us. This would be a very respectable and newsworthy result.

4 – To come fifth (this could be done but we still might not save our deposit).

5 – To save our deposit (five percent of the vote on the day).

6 – If we managed to save our deposit we would probably come fourth (this will also require us to beat any two of the Greens, Conservatives or Liberal Democrats, which would be a remarkable feat).

7 – To come third.

If we achieve any of our 7 aims above, we will have done extremely well in the first by-election that the BNP has ever contested in Scotland.

But also please remember that if we are to achieve any of these goals, we need every single supporter in Glasgow North East to make it to the polling station and vote for us.

If you support us, but you don’t vote, then, sure as fate, we won’t come third, fourth, fifth or even sixth.

Please, if you are one of these people who support us but who think that “voting doesn’t make any difference,” please reconsider.

Firstly, people fought and died for our right to vote. In this Remembrance Day week, we also remember those who fought and died for our democracy in two World Wars.

Not to vote is to dishonour their memory and to throw away everything for which they struggled.

Secondly, not voting is to throw away the personal power that each of us has to change our lives, our country and our world. Things only change through political effort.

If you don’t make the effort to vote, then nothing will change. On Thursday, you have a chance to exercise your personal political power.

Thirdly, elections can be won or lost on a single vote. Whether we come third or fourth, or fifth or sixth, depends on how many people turn out to vote.

A significant result for the BNP (which is to say, somewhere in the top six places) will, undoubtedly, have an impact not only on Scottish politics, but throughout Britain.

People will realise that the ideas and policies of the BNP are supported by a large part of the electorate. A significant result will also set the party up nicely to do well throughout Britain at the General Election next year.

You can be part of the history which establishes the BNP as a major player in Scotland, and which boosts it throughout Britain, by voting for Charlie Baillie, British National Party, this Thursday 12th November.

Polling stations open from 7am and close at 10pm. If you don’t have your polling card, don’t worry. Simply tell the people at the polling station your name and address.

If you don’t know where your local polling station is, then you can use the search facility on the Glasgow City Council website. Click here.

If you cannot campaign physically, please donate to us financially by writing a cheque payable to “BNP-Scotland” or “British Heritage” and sending to PO Box 11815, Turriff, AB53 8WB. If you cannot do anything else at this time, then please donate to the party.
