Good on your relatives. The fight for Irish independence was long and hard and consistently marked with treason until a handful of determined men and women stood strong and firm.

Plus ca change, c'est toujours la meme chose. (...the more they remain the same...)

(Too bad about the subsequent destruction of the railways, Georgian heritage buildings and exquisite stately homes...)

First, a message of sympathy to former MEP Kathy Sinnott for the untimely loss of her son in a drowning accident (?) in the USA. Kathy has 9 children including a developmentally disabled son, and is a strong campaigner against Lisbon - which may explain why she lost her seat in the last election. She's from the same area as Robot Pat Cox.

Gisela summed up the EU in eight words. "The EU makes rules but is bound by none."

Kathy introduced us to the three thousand faceless committees who think up rules with which to torment and subdue us. "Even the MEPs" can't find out who they are.

She also said that once a person is elected they are no longer part of national government but belong to the EU. Now forgive me friends, but between moving and such, I cannot get my head around, European Commissions, European Community, European Union, and such - each costing the taxpayer a small fortune, and each carrying its own bloated, nepotistic bureaucracy.

I hope I get this part right, but according to former MEP Sinnott, the EU doesn't actually exist - yet. We are still part of the European Community

Like that crazy gulag where I once resided, jurisdictional confusion is another tool of silencing and oppression. Who actually knows what their EU MEP does, when he/she does it, and what the consequences might be. Actually they do very little other than rubber stamp the edicts of the three thousand committees and take hope shedloads of bribe money ie, "salaries and expenses."

Cadbury's has sold out to Hershey's - at least its name. A Cadbury's bar in the US is not our Cadbury's. I should know. My dad worked for British Food Research - he was a top scientist barred from employment in Ireland because of his patriotism and standards of excellence, but treated with great decency and civility in Britain. We got first dibs on the "experimental" sweets and chocolate.

(Hi you guys downriver in Southwark! Still speaking English down there?)

I think they did "select themselves," by a process of exclusion of independent thinkers. Selection at policy levels take place around the elegant dining tables of the extremely well to do. Selection at mid levels takes place at Third Level where sycophants are groomed for management, massaged into Rhodes (Clinton) and Fulbright scholarships which lead to jobs at IMF, or political office.

Now politicians need backers, and while corporations are limited in their donations in the USA, individual employees are not, and so on and so forth.

So any geniuses out there hitting the glass ceiling, don't beat up on yourselves; it's you against a self-protective power elite...just share your gifts with the BNP, and "tear down that wall..."

Wish I'd known you wuz here, Sir Thom. You are absolutely spot on about inflation, and with unemployment figures reaching 400,000 in a population of 4.5 million that's in the region of 18% unemployment.

The EU brought rampant greed to ireland, benefiting an ever dwindling minority of super rich, bringing in franchises to squeeze out small businesses, cavernous German supermarkets, extraordinary cultural apathy, an almost lemming like acquiescence in the export and squander of millions of Euros to entertainment has beens and mediocrities, rampant crime - aided and abetted by the "Peace" Process, people and sex "workers" trafficking, drug dealing, theft of social services by "asylum seekers," violence against the elderly and such.
Thanks for your support here...

Agreed, Sir Thomas.
But vote rigging is intrinsic in the Irish system.
Basically, Irish citizens do not have an automatic right to vote - unlike Germany, Italy, England, etc., that is based on residency. So much for EU equality and uniformity.

Now, the Irish voting population is comprised of the haves and the have nots, eg.,The "haves" comprise persons in taxpayer funded employment such as education, bureaucracy, medicine and such, all jobs requiring "influence," or a word in the right ear, so to speak.
The "have nots" hold onto their jobs by keeping schtum about politics and such. If they can't, they leave. This also applies to educated dissenters. Shut up or ship out.

However, since the Church-State child abuse scandals, the destruction of fisheries, the various Quangos, aka "Tribunals" exposing corruption and decadence at all political levels, the silent majority has become increasingly vocal.

Donna, I'm not sure that Tony will be rewarded. It is more likely that the Presidency is dangled before his greedy, rodent face, while someone else is being groomed to step in, and Tony and Cherie will suddenly be "exposed" for something or the other and consigned to the trash heap of history where they belong.

In brief, would you hire a person who sold his family?

I might wake up sceaming in my sleep now at the thought! If we capture them on French soil does that mean we can use the madame guillotine?

Certainly Tony Blair seemed to be buying up a lot of expensive property during his reign - and on a Prime Minister's salary it was difficult to see how he would ever be able to fulfill the mortgages on them!

I would love to be able to see a copy of the mortgage applications on the London and Bristol ones - especially the bits where he justifies his income and how he intended to meet the future payments...............!

Certainly Tony Blair seemed to be buying up a lot of expensive property during his reign – and on a Prime Minister's salary it was difficult to see how he would ever be able to fulfill the mortgages on them!

Winston Churchill was right about that one. "Be on your guard; the next fascists will be the anti-fascists."

Question, unrelated to your theory.
How do you get a long piece (some 300 - 400 words on the comments?
If I send more than about 50 words I get a message saying comment too long try again with less words.
Puzzling.

I stopped listening to that station after they sacked a number of their show hosts.
Collins is perhaps the most cringeworthy xxxxlicker I have ever had the displeasure to listen to.
Not a nice man, and one who thrives on left-wing P.C mantras.
I now listen to independent stations chat shows on the internet - far more interesting, and far less PC.
