I just don't geddit, what does The Scum stand for? On the one hand they appear to hate the Looney Left and espouse the virtues of being British, and yet they attack the BNP as the lone political party that actually does stand up for Britishness.

They are full of contradictions. They should stick to what they do best – their liking of photos of nude girls and sport.

The apology was not enough. Was clearly insincere. And it comes too late to stop the damage being done to BNP elections. Nothing here to stop the Sun – or any other paper – doing exactly the same next time a major election is in full swing.

I have had another look and the devious so-and-sos have not apologised at all. The words they have used are not even a retraction. They have just grudgingly put down what they said Adam Walker asked them to and no more.

Anyway, wasn't it the PCC that was to supposed to enforce apologies? So should they not have put down that it was the PCC whom they were partially obeying?

Anyway, they should compensate the BNP for such disgusting lies at a crucial political time for the Party.

Are the police going to prosecute the nasty little irks spreading lies and forgeries around?

Does anybody remember the days when you could more or less trust what was in the newspaper was the truth?

It is a very sad thing that you now have to take everything they say with a huge dollop of salt.

This Rag should have been made to pay compensation to the BNP. Goodness knows how many votes that nasty, lying story cost the BNP. They should also have been made to apologise BEFORE the elections to limit the damage to the BNP.

I hope they are going to apologise in the printed paper too.

This was either dreadfully politically biased and blinkered journalism or the journalists were just too lazy to verify the veraciousness of the story before reporting such lies.

I can believe they were biased and I can believe they could not be bothered to investigate too deeply because the lies allowed them to have a few kicks at the BNP in the run-up to the elections. The apology, while welcome, should have come BEFORE the elections to counter most of the damage caused by the lies, to the BNP vote.

Unfortunatly the damage was done with the smear leaflet.When i was leafletting before the elections people were saying they will not vote for us because of this leaflet.The reply is too little and too late

He kept circulation of the New York Post high by undercutting the competition (15cents eu/25c us), using syndicates for op eds and a skeleton staff of interns or barely there journalists for the tabloid pages. Clever enough. While it was the only centrist rag in NYC, and thereby welcome, it fell short of providing news or anything resembling investigative journalism.

The Aussie employees were cool; the others a bunch of portentious prats.

Belated but a good result, an outright apology would have been better and also in a more prominent position. However, they acheived part of their desired result, lets hope this can be offset now the public realise (hopefully) that they print blatant untruths for when a similar smear campaign is launched come the run up to the General Election. They may have shot themselves in the foot together with the other lying rags.

I'm not sure whether I'm missing something here, but why have they only apologised on line ? What about all the people that read the Sun that don't have a computer ? These would probably be the older generation. They won't know about these lies ! The Sun should be made to print an apology in their main newspaper ! This way everyone gets to see it !

They've profited from the lies, and perhaps contributed to those suspiciously tiny margins in local elections. The retraction should be as prominent as the headline, and compensation should be required to eliminate the profit motive from pernicious, damaging headlines.
