Going from Strength to Strength in Scotland

July 17, 2009 - By BNP News

gary-raikesThe British National Party in Scotland is cashing in on the interest shown during the recent Euro election, reports Scottish leader Gary Raikes. The first issue of The Bugle, Scotland BNP’s own newsletter, is almost ready to go and the party in Glasgow is fighting a parliamentary by-election.

“The party’s profile in Scotland has never been higher,” said Mr Raikes.

“Most recently I had a full page article in a magazine published by the Scottish Youth Council which also attracted national press interest,” Mr Raikes told BNP News. “I have also given an interview to the Glasgow University newspaper that will ruffle Marxist feathers when it is published,” he said.

“Various Members of the Scottish Parliament from all the old parties have recently voiced their worry over the rise of the BNP in Scotland. They have reason to be concerned, as we aim to elect our own MSP in 2011,” he continued.

Mr Raikes is currently following up all leads to ensure that official BNP organisers are appointed in every Local Authority area. “My aim is to have the target wards identified and work started in all of them prior to the next Scottish parliament elections. We also aim to have BNP candidates standing in each of the 32 council areas in Scotland.

“We have already published a Scottish local organisers’ pack which is full of all information to help our new officials carry out their roles. All of this has put us firmly on the Scottish political map and is another step towards reaching the level of professionalism we set for ourselves two years ago,” Mr Raikes concluded.
