East Midlands Holds First Post Euro Election Regional Council Meeting
The East Midlands has hit the road running following the recent round of elections, regional organiser Geoff Dickens told BNP News.
Speaking after the successful conclusion of the first East Midlands Regional Council meeting to be held after the European elections, Mr Dickens said that the large number of local enquiries generated during the elections are being followed up and converted into members.
“The increase in new members has been so great that the Northampton branch has split into two groups and the newly formed Erewash group is already out fighting a local by-election,” Mr Dickens said.
East Midlands regional fund holder James Mole told the meeting that finances were still in excellent shape. The Peacock Club, from which the 2.4 million Euro leaflets had been financed, still has a healthy balance and is now building for the future.
Furthermore, Mr Mole said, “all local branches and groups were in the black. Considering the considerable expense of the elections, it is clear that the British National Party in the East Midlands is financially stable and ready for future elections.”
Regional Elections officer Wayne McDermott provided the meeting with an overview of the massive increase in support for the party across the region. “We now have another three parish councillors, giving a total of 23 parish, six district/borough and one county councillor in the East Midlands,” Mr McDermott said.
“I want to add my thanks to all those who stood as candidates and to all the helpers who had made the breakthrough possible,” Mr McDermott said.
Regional press and publicity officer John Ryde distributed copies of a revamped ‘Good News’ leaflet and stressed the importance of keeping up the door-to-door leafleting campaign.
