While not a fan (or member) of the BNP - I would fully agree with the stance of that party re 'PC.' As an ex member of the RBL, I disagreed with a lot of their newish policy's, for one the sale (to boost funds) of the National Service Medal - which they then promptly ban the wearing of...

RBL branches and clubs ... they are all different in attitudes which in general reflects the views of the 'established' hierachy rather than the members.

Well said Nick Griffin MEP. You and the British National Party (of which I am a member) have much support, not only amongst the rank and file of the Royal British Legion but also amongst those further up the chain of command who have not been infected with Communist Purpose indoctrination. Keep wearing your poppy with pride Sir, and start a trend for everyone who cares, to start wearing one and send out the strongest message yet, that while we support our troops 100% and more besides, we want them all brought home to their loved ones now, where they are available to defend this country from the enemy within.

Here's a draft of an e-mail i sent to Stuart Gendall Director of RBL Corporate Comminications

Dear Mr Gendall,

I am rather concerned that for a non political organisation the RBL, has written to The Guardian newspaper condeming Nick Griffin MEP for wearing a Poppy pin during the recent Euro election campaign. Like or loathe the BNP, Mr Griffin has every right to wear a Poppy. No doubt that he has had family members killed or injured during WW1 and 2, and maybe in conflicts since. Don't you think it was the protesters that threw eggs at Mr Griffin are the true Facists here, ie "You can say what you like, but only if we agree with it". Don't forget it was Tony Blair that sent our troops to an ILLEGAL war in Iraq, and also to war in Afghanistan, where British interests were not at risk.
I have noticed a seemingly political correctness creep into the RBL. The words Royal and British are in smaller type font to Legion.

I joined the Legion as I wanted to help our serving and ex service personnel. I am the loving girlfriend of a former Royal Green Jackets serviceman, and he suffers combat PTSD. I have recently completed a Caseworker course and I look forward to start helping our veterans and their families. I also have started a scheme with my local RBL to send parcels to our troops in Afghanistan. I do not wish to get bogged down in pc-ness. I am tempted to withdraw my services to the RBL for this slur on Mr Griffin. He WAS democratically elected by the electorate. However if I withdraw my services it will be the servicemen and women who suffer, and I do not wish to punish them for the actions of a minority.

I would like to add that I would much rather stand with Mr Griffin in an act of Remeberance, than I would with politicians from any of the three main other parties, who had the audacity to claim for wreaths on expences. At least Mr Griffin pays for his own, and he has the interests and welfare of our service personnel and veterans at heart.

Yours sincerely

sorry for the delay in posting but I had trouble tracking down the 'open letter ' in question. I have now read it on the RBL's website
I am disgusted that the RBL should a) have written to Mr Griffin in those terms and b) published it in the Guardian. I am writing to the RBL to tell them so. I will not be buying another poppy.There are plenty of other ex service charities that could do with funds.

I too received a pathetic e-mail from the RBL with the attached letter which they sent to Nick Griffin. Needless to say the RBL deserved the toingue lashing they got from me and others.. They are little better than puppets for the Left wing government. I have advised them that unless they desist in pathetic poltical gestures, they will get no further support from me and my family. I am a serving soldier.

The open letter is not signed by anyone. It feebly ends with a "Stop it" as if written by a 6 year old. It is unbelievably pathetic, but there is a Mr Wiseman who is their somewhat inept "Communications Officer ".

I have just received a truly ridiculous email from a Mr Wiseman of the British Legion. In reply I informed him that I would not be giving any money to the Legion on account of the Legion's stance and having collected for them in a major way previously would be withdrawing my support.

I forgot to mention BMH in Singapore; they dealt with the serious problems that my second son endured. He died aged 19 years from his condition; he probably lived this long due to the expertise of the BMH staff in his first few months of life.

I'm reminded of the WWI poem, by Wilfred Owen:

Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs
And towards our distant rest began to trudge.
Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots
Of tired, outstripped Five-Nines that dropped behind.

Gas! Gas! Quick, boys! – An ecstasy of fumbling,
Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time;
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling,
And flound'ring like a man in fire or lime . . .
Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.
In all my dreams, before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.

If in some smothering dreams you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie; Dulce et Decorum est
Pro patria mori.

Perhaps the RBL Executives would be better employed in the BNP effort to build "A Nation Fit For Heroes" as promised all those years ago; or perhaps examining the cause and perpetrators of that betrayal? Instead of writing to the Establishment propaganda newspaper about poppies, perhaps they should write about the scandal of the war generation being abandoned to the profiteers of the Private Care Home industry - and their cheap foreign labour; or about the current and future generations being third-class citizens in the land their fathers sacrificed so much for?

I'm just waiting for the Gravatar Police to kick the door in!

An enamel poppy pin sold by excalibur would be brilliant and a money spinner I think. Could be small but vivid to cut mailing costs, etc.

Why the bleep don't those idiots at Trough minister adapt minesweeping technology to our military vehicles and send small, remote controlled geiger drones to precede infantry in compromised area.

d'uh!

We have enough inventors and garden shed scientists (my late English born brother would have set that up in a day!) to create preventive, life saving tech. Was hoping to develop it myself, but am putting it out there as life has taken unexpected turns.

Disgusting! Dave, you're sound! I cannot tell you how angry this makes me. This is not the Britain I remember from my youth. Lib LiarCoNUs divided our nation in order to conquer it.

You've proven our spirit will never die!
