Police phone numbers - be prepared! In my area, 999 doesn't call the police, I believe; they supply another ordinary number. May as well make sure you have this number available on your mobile!

We have grown to expect fraud in UK elections, even had it on tape (search you tube). We've had police investigating fraud from the last general election and nothing ever gets done.

This time it's different. Watching a Telegraph journo talking on Sunday, he said the BNP weren't a threat and we were less than 5% of the vote. Talking up the prelude to ballot box fraud was the first thing in my mind.

If we don't get an MEP, we're going to know that something is so corrupt it stinks, and much like MP's expenses you can't hide it forever.

Just a thought on the areas where they intend using cardboard boxes to stores voting slips. What does the electoral commission have to say on this as it is not a secure means of storage. In fact it is telling us that they are about to interfere with the votes.

Firstly I suggest taking a pen, ink is far harder to erase and shows up. Secondly, tellers should keep the record of those who voted and it can be checked against the list of voters (unfortunately this will only be after the elections). Tellers should also be present until the end of voting and closely monitor the sealing of boxes, making a note of seal numbers. Also ensuring seals go on locks and not handles.

So, is it a case of, as soon as we go into the Polling Station, we tell them our name or give them our Polling card and then make sure we look closely at the list that they have, to see if our name has already been crossed off in some way?

Due to having been a carer for my then disabled husband I applied for a postal vote some years back , as i knew I'd find it difficult to have got to the polling station on election day. I've still got a pv, as Ive got health problems, and so I might not make it on the day. I've got my vote filled out here, and sealed in the envelope, as now I know of possible corruption I feel it's more secure here. I don't know when to hand it in to the council for counting, I know I'll pass near the council offices Tuesday, am I best to take it in then or wait until Thurs, I know one of the polling stations is within a mile of my home, so if I do feel lousy I could whizz up there in my car. This is the first opportunity I've had of voting for the BNP. I'm just wondering what's the bst way to prevent tampering with my vote

I've made a note of ballot paper no's is it possible to ask to see my ballot papers after the poll closes to ensure my BNP vote is tallied.
OH yes in the county council elections I don't have an option of voting for the BNP, so I've spoilt my ballot paper, by writing BNP all over it. There's an independent candidate sounds good, read his election address today, but I don't think an independent has the same clout as a political party. I think it's going to be a two horse race between Cons or Lib Dems here, I did previously swicth from Labour to Lib Dems believing them to be the lesser of three evils, but this expenses scandal has proved they're much the same.
I think locally the Cons and Libs have proved as useful as a chocolate fireguard at addressing residents concerns. OH yes that news article about racist attacks having been slashed in Nuneaton and Bedworth Counil area since BNP have elected councillors, has made me want to move to an area where there's a strong BNP presence.

Would it be possible to count the number of voters going into each polling station?Every time that I have voted party workers have asked if I would give them my number. This is just an extension of the same process.
Not 100% accurate ,but any large scale deviation from the announced `total votes cast` would show up immediately.
And if potential fraudsters knew that a head count was taking place it might worry them somewhat that they risked being caught. A deterrent at least, knowing that jail sentences have resulted in the past from election fraud.

flytheflag, the reason that they have nicked millions from the taxpayer is that they made the rules to suit themselves and vote rigging is an entirely different issue and if proven there is no excuse about I did not understand the system because the system has been in place for years and they will go to prison as has been proven, they will be taking one hell of a chance,a few rigged votes and if caught a prison sentence,a risk not worth taking.

This is what you hear about from some other country, can never happen in Britain. If smears and downright lies can happen in the media then it must be possible in an election. This is the first time that I have heard of the fact that corruption can occur in these circumstances.
