The BNP web site has broken all records in the Alexa world rankings and as of 19 November was the 8,481 most visited site in the world.
The dramatic jump, conclusive proof of the ‘blowback’ nature of the attempt to destabilise the BNP with the release of the so-called ‘membership list’ has made the BNP web site into the world’s most popular political party web site.
Simon Bennett, the man behind the technical aspects of the BNP web site, says that the ranking is even more remarkable when it is considered that there are in excess of 108 million web sites in the world.
“We have seen spikes before, as with the May elections, but based on current traffic levels, we are still running at twice the number of visitors on a normal day,” Mr Bennett said. “Early indications are that this spike may continue for a while.”
In another encouraging development, increasing numbers of new visitors to the web site are reading other important parts of the site. For the month of November, the most visited pages on the BNP web site have been:
- Nick Griffin’s Urgent Update on the ‘list’;
- The ‘Racism Cuts Both Ways’ page;
- The ‘Is the BNP Racist’ page;
- The ‘Join Us’ page;
- The Boston by-election win page;
- The ‘Policies’ page;
- The ‘news’ page.
According to media consultancy firm Enders Analysis, the BNP web site ranked just one place below the official website of US President-elect, barackobama.com in September of this year. This figure will of course have been superseded by the more recent figures.
*Colin Goodgroves, online subscriptions and membership manager, reports that he is taking twice the normal number of membership applications and donations than in any normal high peak day.
