Where is the justice?

August 26, 2008 - By News Team

Edinburgh student Rory Graham was\viciously beaten in an unprovoked attack which was captured on cctv, yet only two of the thugs seen on camera kicking their unconscious victim in the face had only pay a paltry £300 each in compensation, the other three escaped any sanction.

After the attack Mr Graham needed £2.500 worth of dental treatment and was forced to write off an academic year at university.

Is it any wonder that Mr Graham, 20, of St Andrews, Fife, said, “What do you have to do these days to go to prison?”

A sentiment echoed by Euan MacKay of Glasgow who was set upon by two drunken yobs and required five stitches in his face.

Police officers set the pair free without a court appearance because they agreed to a fixed £150 penalty.

Mr MacKay said “Basically, someone can go out, assault someone, scar them, and walk away with a £150 fine and no criminal record, no appearance before a judge, no nights spent in custody and no lesson learned”.

The SNP Executive showing that when it comes to justice they are no different than Labour, soft on crime, soft on the causes of crime!
