Midwest in July – Keeping the Pace

August 2, 2008 - By Simon Bennett

The Midwest Region saw one of its busiest month so far with groups and branches working at break neck pace to carry the party’s message within the West of England geographical area.

BNP meetings took place in every area of the region, and leafleting carried out to a staggering 10,000+ homes.  Members of the management team also found time to visit our friends in the South West Region to plan further joint ventures including the new Training and Media Team which has been set up to increase our training and development expertise within the party as a whole.

Bristol and South Gloucestershire

A good month for Bristol with its usual meeting taking place and expansion into BANES and further meetings planned due to an increase in membership within the area. Leaflets have already been planned for September when the branch plans to increase its profile within the Bristol and South Gloucestershire area.

Somerset

Regular meetings are now taking place in expanded groups within the county. Mass leafleting campaigns and the influx of new members has increased the parties profile in the north of the county. Members of the county also attended the successful training weekend at the end of June.

Wiltshire

A busy month for the county, with meetings in North Somerset, Swindon, Salisbury and North Wiltshire, meetings in Salisbury and Swindon were impressive and much improved from last year.

Swindon and Salisbury both saw 4000 leaflets distributed; with 5000 leaflets distributed in the Chippenham constituency.

Only one election in July in Corsham, where we came 5th, beating Labour and the Greens. The campaign was marred by dirty tricks from the Conservatives and the Greens who both put out third party hate material.

Gloucestershire

An excellent month for Gloucestershire, with its first meeting in Gloucester city, and a new group (Tewkesbury and Gloucester) formed to capitalise on increased growth, as well as expansion in the Stroud and Cotswold areas.

There was also increased party activity in the Stroud area, with plans to capitalise on our voter base with the distribution of thousands of leaflets over the next few months.

Well done to everyone involved!
