SheriffofNottingham: Yes, the thought has definitely occurred to me.

Well, in Book 2 you 'hinted' that Jesus and these other teachers may have come from 'outer space', that they may have been visitors here, sharing with us the teachings and wisdoms of highly evolved beings....Was Jesus a 'spaceman'?

You are all 'spacemen'.

What does that mean?

You are not natives of this planet you now call home.

We aren't?

No. The 'genetic stuff' of which you are made was placed on your planet, deliberately. It didn't just 'show up' there by accident. The elements that have formed your life didn't combine themselves through some process of biological serendipity. There was a plan involved. There is something much larger going on here. Do you imagine that the billion and one biochemical reactions it has taken to cause lilfe as you know it to apperar on your planet all occured haphazardly? Do you see this outcome as simply a fortuitous chain of random events, producing a happy result by chance?

[Conversations with God, Book 3 Chapter 20.]

And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found anymore in heaven.

[Revelation 12.]

All questions about Scientology aside, the basic question here is whether the use of the word "cult" is racist, abusive, discriminatory or whatever. Since they've dropped the case, it obviously isn't but I wonder if they would have let it go so easily if the "cult" in question had been Islam.

I agree, it would be nice to think that the world is going to get a helping hand from some cousins from Outer Space, but has the thought ever occurred to you that they themselves might be waiting for the ideal opportunity to immigrate? At all events, they might leave us a safari park to which they could come on holiday to observe homo sapiens' mating rituals, tea parties and lemming-like killing sprees.

The thing about 'scientology' is, it is based on a totally fictitious story which is in turn loosely based upon an idea which is fundamentally credible. It leaves itself open to accusations that it could be, in fact, a vehicle for discrediting certain theories concerning ESI (Extra-Solar Intelligence/s) and their relationship, if any, with this planet and the Human Race.

In short, it is a mathematical certainty that advanced life forms exist throughout the Universe. It follows that some of these lifeforms are fully capable of traversing space-time, and it is logical to assume that some of them may have been doing the same for a very long time. That means that they may well have been here, and for that matter probably are here all the time. I can't accept that there is 'no evidence' of alien visitation - there is just far too much 'quality material' that strongly suggests otherwise. For all I know, some of these phenomena may even originate from the seas, or underground; who am I to say they're not?

It is true that we still have the problem of the 'Missing Link' in the story of Human evolution. Not only does even the greatest genius apparently 'use', at the maximum, just ten percent of their brain, but Human beings seem to have taken a 'Quantum Leap' at a certain point of development - becoming modern Humans as if someone had flicked a switch. This suggests some kind of genetic 'upgrading', or assimilation. How can we possess brains which are larger than classic evolution would allow?

Perhaps we have cousins on other worlds who are watching over us, and who will ensure that we don't actually manage to make ourselves extinct, and completely destroy this beautiful cosmic oasis while we're at it.

Artorius - damn right. It's what Scientologists have done to others in the past. Google the term "fair play" next to "Scientology"

http://www.scientologyworld.com/

"This film is a warning of what could happen if the cult extend their influence over the British police the way they have done in Clearwater.

They have already tried to do so with the City of London Police- offering senior officers tickets to film premieres and jazz festivals. Unfortunately the police have discovered that they were expected to pay for these tickets by bringing a ludicrous case against Epic Nose Guy that has now failed."

The CPS may have dropped the case but that shouldn't be the end of the matter. Since the kid was only 15 can't the police be sued for harassment, child-abuse, psychological damage etc etc?

Shropshire Lass : Note they encourage "debate" on the website you mention. I would like to point out that up until recently there was a sponsored link on Google that popped up every time I typed in "BNP" that asked the question "Is Britain Racist? - Join the Debate Now". A quick look at the site told me enough to understand that you cannot have a moderated and fair debate with what was blatantly a Common-Purpose site. I worry for the folk that provided them with any personal information.

According to my dictionary, the word cult is defined as "a system of religious belief, devotion, homage to a person or thing". I fail to see how this can be construed as insulting by any stretch of the imagiation. One "cult" I would love to see the back of is Gordon Browns following of treacherous acolytes and all they stand for.I also wonder how the arresting officers can take their wages without a nervous, guilty tremor in their hands. It would seem that even basic common sense is not approved of in this madhouse of a country.

The erosion of our democracy is happening ever faster. The general public certainly need to wake up, smell the coffee and vote BNP before it is too late.

For once in my life, I have to agree with that annoying Chakribarti woman.

This must be the final proof that we are now living in a police state, freedom of speech - dead, right to protest - dead. The police are paid by the taxpayer to protect them from criminals not to be a political enforcement arm of the government. They have now it seems, moved from being our servants, to being our enemy. Even the law abiding are now considered criminals, (e.g. don't protest peacefully, don't overfill your bin etc.).

The law will soon say that you have to believe in fairies.

Stop the madness, support, donate to and vote BNP, while you still can!

Maybe we should start a petition on the Number 10 website "We believe Scientology is a cult, and demand the CPS drop's the charges made against a young teenager, we believe in free speech and believe the present "policitically correctness" is a surpression of what our fore fathers fought for in the world wars."

Askari: First, please do not denigrate yourself with such descriptions as "old" and "frail".
The bones may be creaking a bit but the Askari mind is always wick, incisive and analytically crystal clear in reaching and extracting the core of any issue, as in your post today, above.

On the subject of this article, the Public Order Act 1936, s. 5,
used exactly the same wording as the present P.O.A., creating the offence of "using abusive, threatening or insulting words or behaviour with intent or likely to cause a breach of the peace". The 1936 Act was aimed specifically at
Sir Oswald Mosley's neo-Nazi organisation, section 2 prohibiting "the wearing of quasi-military uniforms". It saw very little use after 1939.

The present Act uses the same wording but this time around, it has been resurrected not to control a small group of Fascist fanatics but to subdue the entire population. It is being used not to constrain those who are deemed to pose a threat to the nation, but, instead, to attack anyone who criticises any person or organisation who/which really is posing a threat to the nation by exerting some kind of distruptive influence and is thereby acting in accordance with the objectives of Common Purpose.

In effect, virtually the same Public Order Act, exactly the same wording but now, in its application, inverted - stood on its head - in the traditional "Cultural Marxist" way. In this case, a grotesquely distorted definition of the word "cult" has been created specially to suit the occasion.

Taking this to the farcical conclusion ... I see that over zealous staff at Manchester Museum have covered naked mummies with a white sheet to avoid offending the sensibility of some visitors. I feel, therefore, it won't be long before we are all walking round under a white sheet to avoid offending the sensibility of some viewers ... or .... God forbid, we will be forced to wear black sheets .... Oops. That is too near the mark to be funny. What?
