MEPs behaving badly?

One of our researchers sent an email to each and every one of UKIP’s MEPs earlier this year asking them for a breakdown of their EU expenses and allowances claiming since taking up their seats in 2004. This is, after all, OUR tax money being claimed. Although the majority of them, or people acting on their behalf, responded – not one would or could, provide this information.

When our researcher contacted UKIP by phone and by email, they claimed to be unable to help as they did not have this information – however, when pushed, suggested that our researcher contact the MEPs concerned directly! Which, of course, he subsequently did.

All a waste of time really, as our researcher is no wiser now than he was before starting out on his quest!

A possibly related story may be found here .

Remember the EU does not have any money of its own to dole out in expenses and allowances – it’s OUR money and that of other unfortunate taxpayers in Europe!
