POW Ordeal.

December 3, 2007 - By Simon Bennett

I would like to recommend a book called ‘Surviving The Sword’ – Prisoners of the Japanese 1942-1945 by Brian MacArthur.

Its the story of the British, Australian and American soldiers who faced a daily occurrance of starvation, disease and torture in the Far East during the Second World War. The stories of the Far East always take a secondary place to the war in Europe.

27% of Japan’s prisoners died in captivity compared with 4% in Germany.

I think this is an important chapter of OUR history that should never be forgotten.
